Are You Working For an Astroturfer For Free?

Remember when news broke about billionaires hiring astroturfers?  Lots of well-funded interests have astroturfers.  It is not always obvious who the astroturfers are, online or offline.  Interests other than politicians and hustlers also troll social media, etc are known to use astroturfers.  Don’t put stock in any type of superior who won’t acknowledge real threats, problems, or runs the show in a way that’s just too convenient for the other side.

Self Made Billionaires are Innovators and Risk Takers

Do you think that dropping out of college to start a business is a risk? Are you a risk taker? Would you drop out of college to start a business? Bill Gates did. He dropped out of Harvard to start Microsoft, which became one of the most innovative companies ever. He's like many self-made billionaires and entrepreneurs; he is a risk-taker and an innovator (actually, that also describes many self-made millionaires).

Risk tolerance and innovation are just two of the personality characteristics of self-made billionaires. Here are more:

They are entrepreneurial
They "step up to the plate" when an opportunity arises
They see opportunity where nobody else does
They don't procrastinate, they "make it happen"
They are full of optimism
They accept mistakes because there is an opportunity to learn from failure
They enjoy success and thrive to achieve it
They appreciate their own personal success
They are motivated
They know how to invest
They make money doing things that they love
They practice time-management, meaning they don’t waste their time on meaningless tasks
They are influential and persuasive
They surround themselves with smart people
They have business sense
They are fearless
They are intelligent

Of course, these are just some of the common characteristics of self-made billionaires. Not all self-made billionaires carry these traits but all have an incredible desire to succeed and most could do it all over again if they lost it all.

Paths and Requirements to a Billion Dollar Empire

Monumental odds and monumental risk characterize the undertaking of making a billion dollars.

You must have a strong drive and be smarter than average to become a billionaire. Look at Donald Trump. Trump only sleeps 4-5 hours a night. Trump works all the time. If you are to become a billionaire, you need drive, better than average smarts, some seed capital, and the right ideas.

Where will the next billionaires come from? Likely from the fields of:
- nanotechnology
- Internet/Computers/Software
- neurotechnology
- biotechnology
- alternative energy
- and certainly, many more billionaires will be innovators, inventors, turn around specialists, money managers, and others.

If you are dreaming to the point of opening brokerage accounts, taking college classes, Anthony Robbins seminars, and starting businesses, you are cordially invited to my Yahoo Group called "IndependentWealth - Investing for Early Retirement 101". There are several "high achievers" in my group.

If you want to associate with people who are going places, by all means, sign up. Do me a favor and vote in the polls section.

Also, take a look at http://www.independentwealth.us/. There you should at least find a way out of the rat race. You can also sign up for my group there too.

Hopefully, I will be writing a lot more about creating a billion dollar empire.

Bad Times Are Great Times to Make Money

Bad times are absolutely the best times to make money. While the world heads into a possible recession and everyone is saying to play it safe, save whatever you have, spend less, eat less and lots of other "advice", the smarter people know that the bad times are absolute golden times to start spending more instead! I'll give you 3 reasons why in this article.

1. When times are bad, everything is cheaper. In fact, when times are very bad, things are rock bottom cheap. Take advantage of this and start investing! There is a difference between trading and investing. When you trade, you're hoping to get quick gains over a short period of time - the problem with that is you can also make quick losses over a short period of time. Investing, however, is knowing the best times to spend and the best times to spend some more.

2. History has shown us that during recessions, more millionaires and billionaires emerge because they assessed the situation and made a decision to take advantage of it. It all just follows the basic concepts of supply and demand. When times are bad, the supply is as usual but the demand is very low, so prices will fall.

3. However, history has also showed us that fear is the one thing that stops us from making the decisions that we know can ultimately benefit us. We always want to "make sure" and be certain. There's nothing wrong with that but taking too long to think about it will only lead to analysis paralysis - and by the time we realize that we want to take action and do something, the opportunity has already slipped past.

There's a saying that "Opportunity only knocks once", I'd like to say that opportunity is always knocking, question is whether you are open to it.

Internet Billionaires

In today’s economy, with so many companies down-sizing and even going under, you may be wondering what your next move should be in terms of securing employment. Well, the internet is certainly one area of business that keeps growing and growing and growing. And not only are people finding ways to stay in business, they’re actually making real money at running internet-based businesses. Some are even making millions and others billions. Interested in knowing more about these modern-day tycoons? Let’s take look at who they are and how they did it.
Search Engines
Sergey Brin and Larry Page, the owners and creators of Google, were estimated to be worth $43 million in 2004. Since then, their business has continued to grow and these guys are presently two of the richest people in the world. Their internet-based information system, Google, is now worth an estimated $155 billion with a stock purchase price surpassing the $500 mark. One of the reasons Google has continued to grow and succeed is while others tread water or fail is because their service has been disruptive by consistently changing for the better and creating new ways of directing more and more traffic to their site.
David Filo, who was actually working toward obtaining a Ph, D in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, co-founded and developed Yahoo! in 1994 and is presently estimated to be worth $3.12 billion dollars. And even though competitor sites like Google, AOL and MSN are giving Yahoo! a run for their money, so to speak, it’s managed to remain one of the most powerful and valuable search engines on the internet through joint ventures and other innovative concepts.
Internet-Based Auction
Computer Science graduate and creator of eBay, Pierry Omidyar along with his wife Pam, are estimated to be worth over $10 billion. Originally called ‘Auction Web’ at its actual inception, the eBay site was launched on Labor Day, September 1995 based on Pierry’s curiosity to see what would happen if all people had equal access for trading in a common venue. It has grown by enormous leaps and bounds since then with exceedingly high membership numbers in both the buyer and seller market, in addition to great expansions within their corporation as well.
Merchandising
Founder, President, CEO and Chairman of Amazon.com, Jeffrey Bezos, launched the site in 1994, after time spent working as financial analyst upon graduating from Princeton University. He was once quoted as saying: "I'm going to go do this crazy thing. I'm going to start this company selling books online". Well, if crazy leads to success, here’s to it! Bezos is currently worth $3.6 billion and is ranked number 70 on Forbes’ 2006 list of the world’s wealthiest people.
You don’t have to be a genius or even a college graduate to reach the levels of success these people have. One great idea is all it takes – so follow your dream, work hard and you never know – you could be the next internet billionaire!
